What's New with Envirothon NB


NEW! Team Scores 2010

Welcome to the 10th Anniversary of the Envirothon NB program administered by the Canadian Forestry Association of New Brunswick (CFANB) and the Envirothon NB Provincial Steering Committee.

Envirothon NB is a provincial, bilingual, high school, environmental, education competition held annually in Spring.

Stanley High School team Wins 10th Annual Envirothon NB Competition: will represent NB in California



Sackville, NB - Team Eco-Tunes from Stanley High School won the 2010 Envirothon NB competition that took place at Mount Allison University with field testing at Mapleton Park, Moncton this past Friday.

Resources and Team Preparation Assistance

Below are tools CFANB provides to help you and your Envirothon NB Team prepare year round for the competition.
  • Learning Resource CD - contains the Learning Objectives for each Envirothon NB topic, along with many materials/websites and contact information for resource people that can assist in your team's preparations. This available upon registration.

  • Envirothon NB Curriculum Guide - matches the Envirothon NB Learning Objectives with specific units the Environmental Science, Biology, and Science classes. Available online soon.

  • Lesson Plans - ready-to-go activities that can also be incorporated into Science Classes.

  • Resource People - as mentioned above, there are many natural resource professionals around the province that are available for demonstrations, presentations, and tours.

  • Workshops - Day events that will touch on the various Envirothon NB topics and competition preparation tips. Check out the Team Training section for upcoming workshop dates and locations.

  • Website - www.cfanb.ca/envirothon_nb additional resource materials, events and tips are constantly updated for the teams' benefits throughout the year. Includes a list of Committees and Contributors.

Envirothon Scholarships


Mount Allison Unviersity

Mount Allison University offers a scholarship of $1,000 to a participant in an Envirothon team in Canada or the United States who places in the top first, second or third place in the annual competition, and who attends Mount Allison University. This award is offered in addition to any Mount Allison Entrance Scholarship that the applicant might receive and is applicable for any degree program. Selection for this scholarship is based on academic achievement.

University of New Brunswick

Field: Forestry, Forest Engineering, or Environment and Natural Resources.
Value: Up to $500.
Number: 1 or more.
Duration: 1 year.

Conditions: Awarded to Fredericton campus students who have been accepted to an undergraduate degree program in the Faculty of Forestry and Environmental Management and have participated in an Envirothon team in Canada or United States. Envirothon is an environmental competition program for teams from high schools, administered by the Canadian Forestry Association of New Brunswick provincially and sponsored by Canon (at the North American level).

Selection is based on academic achievement. Transfer students may be considered.
Awarding Agency: The University on the recommendation of the Faculty of Forestry and Environmental Management.

Acadia University

Acadia University will offer $500 tuition awards to any Envirothon participants and $1000 awards to any finalists in this year's upcoming competition, should they choose to attend Acadia University.

Early Registration - December 1, 2009 = $150
Late Registration - February 15, 2010 = $200
